2010 Savour Australia™ Restaurant & Catering Awards for Excellence
Restaurant & Catering is again conducting the Awards for Excellence, which is now known as the ‘Savour Australia™ Restaurant & Catering Awards for Excellence’. Again, there will be more than 20 different industry events held around Australia to celebrate the outstanding achievements of restaurants and caterers. These awards give restaurants and caterers well-deserved recognition, promotional support and help to attract incremental business.
And in exciting developments for QLD, the Awards for Excellence in 2010 will:
- Be administered nationally and become known as the Savour Australia Restaurant & Catering Awards for Excellence;
- Includes the introduction of a public voting campaign via savouraustralia.com.au for restaurants and caterers
- Will be cheaper for QLD businesses to enter
- Introduce a simpler entry and judging process for caterers. Caterers will only be judged on the actual event. The production centre will no longer be assessed as part of the judging criteria
- And non-members will be eligible to enter, providing they meet the criteria below and have not been a member within the last five years.
Please read on to learn about the exciting developments in the system as restaurants in QLD now first need to be voted for on savouraustralia.com.au by 7 March 2010 to be eligible to enter. Businesses can however vote for themselves and so can their peers, staff, customers and suppliers. Caterers can either be voted for or instantly enter by downloading the entry/category form - see link below.

PLUS, following announcement of national winners in October, businesses that enter are advised of their Savour Australia Rating (up to 5 plate rating). Savour Australia ratings are one to five icons out of a possible five, mathematically derived from the scores received by businesses judged in the Savour Australia™ Restaurant & Catering Awards for Excellence (at the regional and state level)
From approximately November each year and for businesses with 2 ½ plates or above, these ratings are published on restaurant.org.au and promoted in the media. Businesses also receive kit to help promote their rating and achievements in the Awards.

HOW TO ENTER
This year members of the public are being asked to nominate their favourite RESTAURANT or CATERER by voting online at savouraustralia.com.au. Restaurants in QLD now first need to be voted for to be eligible to enter. You can also vote for yourself and so can your peers, staff, customers and suppliers! Caterers can either be voted for or instantly enter by downloading an entry/category form - see link below. An advertising campaign to promote the online voting will be printed in The Australian and via other selected media throughout February and voting closes at 5pm on 7 March 2010.

A series of downloadable promotional material is available for members to download, promoting the voting system. Encourage your customers, suppliers, staff or peers to vote for your restaurant or catering establishment and increase your chance of qualifying for the Awards. All voters go into the draw to win 1of 5 $100 gift cards to spend in their favourite restaurant or café.
