Industry Representation

Overview

Restaurant & Catering Queensland acts as the voice of the food service industry on all matters important to business operators in its dealings with governments, media, unions, other business sectors, non-government entities and consumers.

The combined strength of the hundreds of businesses that comprise the RCQ membership together with the industry-specific expertise at its disposal ensures an effective lobbying and advocacy voice in Parliament or local council with regard to the drafting and subsequent enforcement of legislation.

The Association plays a vital role in:

  • conducting industry consultation
  • issues research and surveys
  • policy formulation
  • compiling formal submissions and evidence
  • attend hearings
  • devising and executing industry strategy
  • provision of legislative advise and updates to members
  • development of resources to assist businesses with legislative compliance
  • PR and media management
  • direct representation on key government-industry standing committees, councils, boards, taskforces, and forums

The responsibility of overseeing industry representation is that of the CEO
of Restaurant & Catering Queensland, with every member business entitled to have direct input on key issues of concern, prior to the board of the association having final approval of policy positions based on the majority of member feedback.
